OBA TO DUALISE ENEN NSIT; CONSTRUCT NDIYA/IKOT MFON ROADS
The people of Nsit Ubium are to enjoy good road network, better healthcare facilities, women empowerment, bursaries for students as well as better welfare package for both serving and retired civil servants.
The above was the pledge made by the governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Senator Bassey Albert Akpan – OBA, during the ward-to-ward governorship campaign in Nsit clan of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, on November 3, 2022.
“The most popular road here is Enen Nsit, and I promise you, it will be dualized. Another popular road I will work on is Ndiya-Ikot Mfon”, OBA pledged.
The YPP governorship candidate – OBA told the people that the time for them to be free from deception has come. “Be wise, you have been deceived for too long. God will open your eyes. He has opened mine, and I’ve been free. Don’t be intimidated. They have starved you so that when they come giving you N2,000 you support them”.
He told the people that he remains the one to solve their problems. “I am the one to empower you, dear women. Youths, vote for one of your own who will eat, dine with you. I am the one who has sent 481 Akwa Ibom children to school. I know the value of education, and I will pay your bursaries”, he reassured.
OBA used the opportunity to berate the present state government for receiving so much money, yet hunger persists.
“The present government has received over N170 billion in internally generated revenue. The money we have in Akwa Ibom should not let the people be hungry. They use hunger to fight the people. This is a state where permanent secretaries retire without cars.
This is a state where one will serve the state for 35 years, then after retirement, will not be paid gratuities. Our local government monies are deducted monthly, but gratuities are not paid. That is why my heart is bleeding”.
“God has brought YPP. I want to assure Nsit, our government is of the people, by the people and for the people. It will use Akwa Ibom money to better the lives of Akwa Ibom people.
“When I get to the Government House, I will name it “The People’s House”. I will be the Governor who will pick your call and talk to you. There is hunger, but let me assure you, hunger will be over from May 29, 2023”.
“I know the issue of health in this area, and so, within one kilometer radius, we shall have healthcare facility. We will give qualitative and effective education. I regret seeing our youths roaming streets without work. We will give jobs to the youths”.
The State chairman of YPP, Apostle Nyeneime Andy, while introducing the guber candidate, told the electorate to vote the second column from the bottom of the ballot paper.
While urging the people to vote OBA and other candidates of the YPP, Director – General of Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Council, Pastor Sunny Ibuot urged the people to look out for the leaves on the ballot paper.
Barr. Daniel Udofia, chairman Akwa Ubok Abasi in Nsit Ubium, likened the YPP to a boat and urged Nsit people to vote OBA since he remains the only hope for a new Akwa Ibom.
“There are so many Nsit people that OBA sent to school, bought cars for, took to hospital, built houses for. He has interest of the people, I am old and I’ve never seen a governorship candidate move from ward to ward in order to interface with the people.
It is only OBA who is doing that. Our people are not being paid gratuities, the one to pay is OBA”, he assured the Nsit people.
Earlier at the palace of the palace of the Oku Ibom Ibibio, His Eminence Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, OBA told the monarch that he was in Nsit Ubium to assured him that when elected, he will serve the people well.
“We understand the plights of our youths, and we will include them in our programme when we come in next year”.
The Oku Ibom Ibibio who welcomed the YPP entourage, gave his approval to the party to campaign and sued for peace and issue based campaigns.
