Members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly have presented four sensitive motions geared towards the growth and development of the Akwa Ibom people during a plenary session held on Thursday at Udo Udoma Complex Secretariat, Uyo.
The plenary session, which was presided over by the Honourable Speaker, Rt Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong had a motion sponsored by Hon. Moses Essien, Member Representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency, on the topic “Resolution to Construct The Ikot Obio Asa-Aka Ikot Udo Eno Road to Redeem The People From Primitivity In Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State”.
In a similar development, Hon. Jerry Anson Otu, Member Representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara, raised a motion under the title “Urgent Need To Fortify Security AT Ikot Enwang, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Farm Areas to Repel Attacks from Herdsmen”.
Similarly, Hon. Dr. Itoro Etim, Member Representing Uruan State Constituency presented a motion on the “Urgent Need To Restore Electricity Line In Nine Neighbouring Villages in Uruan Local Government Area After Four (4) Years Without Power Supply”.
Lastly, the Member Representing Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mfon Idung concluded the day’s motion on “The Need to Provide Waste Collectors Working With Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency Personnel Protective Equipment”.
Accordingly, the House deliberated on the four Motions with the view to touching people’s lives, committing the Motions to relevant Committees for in-depth studies and on-the-spot – assessment of affected areas and to report back to the House for further legislative actions.
However, after successful deliberations on the different Bills and Motions brought to the House by Honourable Members, the House accordingly adjourned Plenary to Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 10:00hrs.
