6 Cardinal Rules For School Reopening In Nig

Date:

6 cardinal rules and guidelines have been clearly mapped out for school management nation wide and students alike.
This was made public yesterday by the Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Minister for Education, Nigeria.
The 6 cardinal rules are:
(1) Hand-washing facilities.
(2) Body temperature checks.
(3) Body disinfectants at all entering points to their major facilities including the gates, hostels, classes, offices, etc.
(4) The whole premises of each institution must be decontaminated.
(5) All efforts must be geared toward maintenance of the highest level of hygiene.
(6) Ensure Social and Physical Distancing in class sizes and meeting spaces.
To some quarters, the 6 cardinal rules which may seem impracticable, but if followed strictly shall stem the tide of the pandemic as Federal Government gears towards reopening of schools.
Another area of concern is the soon to be relaxed inter- State movements.
Questions begging for answers are; will the Federal Government set similar or related 6 cardinal rules? will those expected rules be adhered to, as it concerns the public transport system with its challenging difficulty in maintaining decorum?
Presently, the focus is on the newly set 6 cardinal rules for reopening of Schools in the nation and the modalities various institutions will put in place for adequate compliance.
Again, the Federal Government on the other hand should set up a state based monitoring team to ensure school managements’ compliance to the later with the 6 cardinal rules outlined for reopening of Schools.
Also, talking about thermometer, an instrument for temperature check as one of the 6 cardinal rules, will individual schools handle the expenditure for it procurement, or Federal Government  is taking the responsibilities of distributing it to our schools?
This among other rules should be closely considered to ensure the rules are strictly followed to avert the spread of the pandemic as schools reopens in our nation.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that Lagos State Government has postponed reopening of churches as confirmed cases of COVID-19 keep increasing in the State.
