A momarch, the Paramount Ruler of Udung Uko Local Government Area, HRM Odidem Bassey Etim Edet JP has apologised to Senator Bassey Albert
(OBA) over the betrayal he suffered in the hands of an Oro son.
The monarch gave the apology, on behalf of Oro Nation, on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 when he received the gubernatorial candidate of the Young Progressives Party
(YPP), Senator Bassey Albert, who was in his palace at Eyo-Atai to pay homage.
He said it was not in the character of an Oro man to betray a fellow human. He recalled that an Udung Uko son had recently betray OBA, after he had variously told Oro people that the senator was the best alternative for his people.
The Monarch who used the opportunity to thank the lawmaker for recognizing Oro Nation, by appointing some of their prominent sons into his campaign council, ended up regretting however that one of them betrayed OBA recently.
“I wish to thank you for appointing one of our sons as the deputy chairman of the Strategic Committee of your campaign council. However, I am aware that he later left. Don’t count that as if all the Oro people are betrayers”, the monarch told Senator Bassey Albert.
Odidem Bassey Edet who thanked
OBA for his plans for the Oro people advised all those supporting him to stand firm and remain resolute in their support.
“All of you coming with him should ensure that you stand firm in your support. Stop moving from one place to another”, the traditional ruler advised.
