The Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has clearly stated that there will be no sacred cows on anyone who flouts the World Health Organisation and approved Guidelines of the State Government towards curbing the COVID-19 pandemic
in the State.
Mr. Emmanuel stated this in Uyo during a media interactive session where he restated the commitment of his administration to ensure that laws made to combat the COVID-19 pandemic are not broken and that nobody no matter how highly placed will be allowed to flout the constituted guidelines.
Governor Emmanuel said that starting from the weekend of July 4,2020, the State Government had lifted the ban on social gatherings like funerals and weddings. He said emphatically that burials conducted in open spaces will not constitute more than 50persons while burials which will be done inside worship centres should not constitute more than 30persons.

Workers in Akwa Ibom State have heaved a sigh of relief as the State Government has taken a u-turn on his earlier decision to slash workers salaries as part of of efforts to reduce the financial burden occasioned by the dreaded Corona virus popularly known as COVID-19.
In a statement jointly signed by Chairmen of the State Chapters of Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria

respectively, it noted that the Government has agreed to withdraw within two weeks, what described as obnoxious Wage review circular and a reversal to return to status quo ante.

Resident of Akwa Ibom State have continued to bemoan what appears like a mysterious disappearance of millions of nairw Conditional Cahs Transfer Funds that were meant to be distributed to eligible households as beneficiaries of the Federal Government *Household Uplighting Programme* (HUP) in the State.

Standard and sellectedmin Akwa Ibom State as the poorest of the poor, with Nsit Atai, and Uruan chosen for the pilot scheme.
While N42M was earmarked for eligible households as beneficiaries of the program in Nsit Atai Local Government Area, N26m was to be disbursed in Uruan but alleged incompetence of the Payment Service Providers let to the eventual disappearance of the funds.
The nine Local Government Areas cleared for payment with enrollment figures according to available documents were: Eastern Obolo- 2165, Ikono-2881, Mkpat Enin-3228, Nsit Atai-3596, Nsit Ubium- 2171, Onna- 3005 Oruk Anam- 2516, Ukanafun- 1858 and Uruan- 3093.

Barring any last minutes change of mind, Governor Udom Emmanuel
is planning to appoint about 4 new Commissioners into his Exco, sources from Hiltop Mansion have told TheMail Newspaper.
The Governor, TheMail understands, has already sent the list of his nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and subsequent confirmation.
Impeccable sources in the Governor’s office said the list has been with the House of Assembly for over a week now.
The Governor is planning to unbundle the Ministry of Agriculture and Women Affairs, Our Source hinted.
