For allegedly presenting a forged academic qualification to Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for Essien Udim State Constituency in the March 9 State House of Assembly election, Mr. Nse Ntuen may be wriggled out of the race come Saturday election.
This is sequel to the lawsuit filed against him, Mr. Ntuen by his opponent of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Barr. Ese Umoh who is also contesting for the State House of Assembly seat in the same Essien Udim State Constituency.
Barr. Ese Umoh dragged Mr. Nse Ntuen to court for allegedly presenting a fake academic qualification to Independent National Electoral Commission, as one of his prerequisites for standing election in the State Constituency.
The PDP candidate in a case filed at the Federal High Court, Udo Udoma, Uyo, with suit number FHC/WY/C5/27/19, is requesting the disqualification of Mr. Ntuen by INEC for presenting a certificate in Social Work Department, University of Calabar, which Mr. Ntuen asserted that he obtained with a second Class Upper Division, meanwhile, his name was listed among those graduating in the Second Class Lower Division in the convocation brochure of that year as only five students graduated in that department in that set with Second Class Upper Division of which Nse Ntuen was not among that five.
Beyond every reasonable doubt, It could be deduced that University of Calabar appeared to have issued two results in the same programme to Nse Ntuen: one the 4 /11/13 with Reg. No.07/BSW-5/125 while another one was issued on the 25/5/15 with the same registration number but in different grade categories.
However, investigations reveal that Mr. Ntuen is currently using close allies at the university of Calabar to buy off his way through some persons to bail him out of his present predicament.
In counter claims, University of Calabar has clearly started that according to the certificate sent to the school for verification as was tendered by Nse Ntuen to INEC from 2014 till date; “Nse Effiong Ntuen was a stuednt of the department of Social Work in the University. He graduated in 2011/2012 academic session. He was awarded second Class Honours “Lower Division” as presented on his certificate”.
Investigations have revealed that Mr. Ntuen did not merit Second Class Upper Division according to the school graduation brouchure and the school verification report, and neither did the school awarded him that purported result as he failed to meet up the required GPA to meet up the Second Class Upper Division and also failed to notify the University authorities on time on the result which he has been parading since his first time as Member of the House of Assembly.
Mr. Umoh is inferring that Mr. Ntuen is unfit to contest in the fast approaching State House of Assembly election, having submitted a false result to INEC, he has committed perjury, which amounts to the penalty of automatic disqualification according section 31 of the Electoral Act.
Many pundits questioned the rational behind the “choice” of Mr. Nse Ntuen by Sen. Godswill Akpabio above several other qualified sons of Essien Udim who aspired in 2014 to speak for Essien Udim at the State Legislature, even when zoning was not in favour of Mr. Ntuen from the Udim political district despite that fact the zoning favoured Essien Annang axis as at that time.
It is therefore alleged that Sen. Akpabio given his close relationship with Ntuen may have been fully aware of the false certificate as presented by Ntuen to INEC given his resolved to install his close allies at the sixth Assembly of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly at all cost.
It could be recalled that Mr. Ntuen had at a function at the private residence of Senator Godswill Akpabio, Ukana Ikot Ntuen, in his goodwill message, appreciated Sen. Akpabio for choosing men of integrity to form the component members of the present Sxith Assembly, of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
