The Executive Chairman, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, Hon. Eric Akpan has identified human capital development, improved empowerment programmes, poverty emancipation and grading of internal roads across the entire Wards of the area as his core focus for 2020 fiscal year.
Hon. Akpan reeled out his programmes for the year recently in his office at Afaha Offiong while interfacing with some select media personnel from Nsit Ibom enclave.
The Chairman reiterated his renewed consciousness in ensuring Nsit Ibom people are not left behind in benefiting from dividends of democracy which according to him is the benchmark of every democratic society.
Hon. Eric Akpan promised taking advantage of the dry season to ensure internal roads are graded within all the Wards components of the Area.
The Council Boss enumerated some of his achievements in office to include: the renovation of the legislative chambers, perimeter fencing with a state of the art gate post, grading of internal roads, renovation of the council’s mini sport stadium, provison of grants to petty traders, welfare package for traditional stool, elders, party structure.
Other projects and programmes embarked by his administration are: renovation of Councillors’ offices, up-to-date payment of entitlements to all officers and provision of official vehicles to principal officers of the Council, ongoing renovation of the council’s secretariat, as well as successfully attracting the citing of Forward Operational Base of Nigeria Immigration Service in the Local Government Headquarters, Afaha Offiong.
He attributed his current feats and improved welfare package for Nsit Ibom people to the cordial working relationship between him and Nsit Ibom Lawmaker, Hon. Ifiok Udoh and pledged sustaining same for the general good of the people.
Hon. Akpan lauded the indispensable contribution of media practitioners to the success story of his administration and sued for more supports in the coming years as he promised charting a stronger partnership with the media community.
The Nsit Ibom Council Chairman commended the State Government for carrying the area along in her scheme of things and remained optimistic that in the next coming months more persons from the area shall be appointed into various positions in furtherance to driving home the Completion Agenda of the present administration.
