Hon Asuquo Udo Won Ikono State Constituency seat for the 2nd Time

Date:

Hon Asuquo Udo won Ikono State Constituency seat for the second time on March 18, 2023, Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Akwa Ibom State.

Hon Udo of the Young Progressive Party, (YPP) won his close contender of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Itoro Columba with a close margin.

It could be recalled that Hon. Udo who was representing Ikono State Constituency in the current 7th Assembly of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly decamped from PDP to YPP last year when he lost the Party primaries and his seat was declared vacant by the Speaker of the House, Hon. Aniekan Bassey.

Political pundits in the PDP platform had predicted political doom for Hon. Udo, asserting that he has lifted the wrong political foot by decamping to YPP, a non-popular political party in Akwa Ibom State as at that time.

But last Saturday’s election result, proved that wrong as Hon. Nana Udo has been declared the winner of the election and returned elected.

In a video of the result of the election circulating on social media, his PDP contender, Hon. Itoro Columba was seen congratulating Hon. Nana Udo with a handshake immediately after the result was announced.
