Governor Udom Emmanuel has reiterated his commitment towards the completion of Ibaka Deep Seaport project before the end of his administration in 2023.
Governor Emmanuel hinted this recently while interacting with Journalists at Banquet hall, Government House, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Mr. Emmanuel reasoned that Ibaka Deep Seaport upon completion shall remain a major source of internally generated revenue for the state and avail ample job opportunities for the teaming youths of the State.
He added that plans are on top gear towards completing Ibaka Deep Seaport project within this last lap of his administration as all modalities have been put on ground to this effect.
Speaking on the educational sector, he disclosed that present administration is passionate and paying premium to educational renaissance of the State as the State government is working assiduously towards revitalizing ICT sector with the vision of turning the State into a technology hub of the nation.
He also informed that the State is playing its role in repositioning the State as a pivot from the just concluded educational summit, the State is setting up a technical Committee on Education that will be collaborating with relevant partners in repositioning the Sector for the betterment of Akwa Ibom.
Governor Emmanuel reassured that the State is committed in sustaining the ongoing free and compulsory education, in this regards, subventions and other sundry issues are paid up to date to schools to cushion the massive enrolment witnessed in the public schools on daily basis.
Adding that the state has recently attracted some federal agencies’ presence through establishment of Government of Girls Secondary School, Ikot Ekang in Abak, attraction of a Nigerian Army owned institution in Efa, and facilitation of establishment of Nigerian Navy School, Ikot Ntuen in Ekpat Akwa among others in the secondary school category.
According to the Governor, topping chart in academic achievements of the present administration is the Upgrading of College of Education, Afaha Nsit to a degree awarding programmeinstitution including infrastructural development, renovation of classroom blocks grading of internal roads within the school premises, physical development and expansion in University of Uyo, Uyo, construction and equipment of ICT laboratories in ten schools across the ten federal constituencies of the State to ensure students are fully ICT compliant.
Having in mind that power is an essential sector for an industrial driven State, Governor Emmanuel’s administration has revolutionised the power sector with provision of Sub power stations across the three Senatorial Districts of the State with assets acquired, hence Akwa Ibom State has the most digitalised power sub stations in the country.
Emmanuel authoritatively said Akwa Ibom is the best in Nigeria agriculturally under the Federal Government programme, FADAMA. With the dakkada philosophy Akwa Ibomites have embraced agriculture as a sustainable enterprise, adding that today, Akwa Ibom is consuming her produce and feeding the neighbouring States.
With the total number of 49,318 registered farmers in the State, governor Emmanuel said government is assisting farmers in supplying free improved cassava stems and other starters in their identified value chain agro businesses with provision of mechanised agro processing plants across the State.
He intimated that Akwa Fertilizer blending plant is producing tons fertilizer, meeting the high demands of south southerners and Akwa hatchery in Uruan is equally working effectively and serving the needs of Akwa Ibom poultry farmers and other States.
Governor Emmanuel made it known that the State’s health sector under his watch asides from providing free medical services to vulnerable persons, human capacity development through annual training and retraining for health care givers and practitioners has top the chart in his scheme of things.
He also disclosed that general hospitals and primary health centres have witnessed revitalization both in structures and improved service delivery.
The Governor Said state government has made remarkable impact in the aviation sector and unravelled that government has concluded Plans towards establishment of aviation school in Akwa Ibom state.
Governor Emmanuel stated that the school seeks to avail people the opportunity of being trained on the operations in aviation sector which will in return boast internal generated revenue of the State among other superlative performances in other sectors of the State.
He sued for continual robust partnership with the media community in propagating the State in its industrialization drive and completion agenda.
