The Speaker Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Onofiok Luke has emerged winner through a free, credible and transparent conducted election yesterday, to represent Etinan Federal Constituency in the Federal House of representatives.
The Nsit Ubium born political juggernaut contested the just concluded elections under the platform of peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with Hon. Dan Akpan Of All Progressive Congress Party (APC).
According to the final collation of results for Etinan Federal Constituency, Speaker Luke emerged with a landslide margin line of 44,830 votes against 15,800 votes for the APC candidate, Hon. Dan Akpan.
Currently Barr. Onofiok Luke is speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and a ranking member representing the people of Nsit Ubium State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State Legislature.
Assuming his exalted person as the Speaker of the House, his leadership style and simplicity have fostered cordiality amost the hitherto 26 members of the house now 21 and has also pulled the string of unity among the Executive and other Arm of Government in the State.
The contribution and partnership of the Speaker Luke’s led State Parliament is the unsung victory story of the Industrailization policy of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration that has showcased the State as an economic hub of the nation, hence, catapulting the State from Civil Service State to that with the largest employment opportunities for its citizens in the past three and still counting years of this administration.
The Speaker is remaining grateful to God for seeing him through before and during the elections. He pledged further deepening the gains of democracy and delivering them at the doorsteps of the people of Etinan Federal Constituency.
It could be recalled that Barr. Luke before embarking on his electioneering campaigns tour, officially Kicked started his campaigns , The Amazing Grace Campaign Organisation at Qua Iboe Church in Etinan Local Government Area, where unprecedented crowd, supporters, political stakeholders from within and outside the constituency registered solidarity with the vocal and fearless heart legislator.
The thorough breed politico during his campaigns exercise toured round all the Wards in Etinan, Nsit Ubium and Nsit Ibom Local Government Areas respectively, components that Form Etinan Federal Constituency.
Ranking top in his speeches during his campaign rallies were: defending the democracy, remaining resolute and vocal even in the phase of intimidation, returning Governor Udom Emmanuel back to hiltop mansion as a matter of fair play, equity, and justice, resisting Federal Might with unit might and remaining steadfast with PDP as a party with people oriented reward system.
