ESIT EKET YPP WARD-TO-WARD GOVERNORSHIP CAMPAIGN (Wards 5, 6,7,8,9, and 10)

Date:

The Akwa Palm industry in Esit Eket, which has been tottering on the brink of extinction, is to enjoy a new lease of life, when the Young Progressives Party (YPP) takes over the reins of power in Akwa Ibom State from next year, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA), has assured.

OBA, the governorship candidate of YPP made the promise on Thursday, November 10, 2022 during his ward-to-ward campaign of wards 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 in Esit Eket.

Akwa Palm Industry sits on a landmass of more than 3,000 hectares and has not received the attention it deserves in the past decades. This made the senator pledge to recalibrate it to work optimally to ensure that thousands of unemployed youths are taken off the streets.

Senator Akpan, who decried the deliberate starvation meted out to the masses by the present state government, said: “They have kept you hungry for the past seven and a half years. Don’t sell your votes for the party that has kept you hungry for that long. By the special grace of God, I will empower the woman, I will empower the youths. I will develop Akwa Palm and employ you”.

He also  pledged to connect the villages without electricity to the national grid. “We will ensure that no village in Esit Eket lacks electricity. Our blueprint for rural development is structured to address these challenges and ensure that what is available in the urban centers also gets to people at the grassroots”, he said.

OBA also promised to provide conducive school environments as well as medical facilities within 1km radius of the state, including Esit Eket. He criticised the current state government for not utilising the state’s funds for the purposes they were meant for.

“They have kept Akwa Ibom money, including the one they received from the CBN, pretending that they will build Akwa Palm. Akwa Ibom state deserves the best leadership”.

“They say they have brought 25 industries. The one in Ekom Iman is now converted to a church. All the industries in Awa, in ONNA, are owned by one person. Syringe industry, flower mill, coconut refinery, metering company, etc are all Akwa Ibom money with inflated contracts owned by one person”.

He compared the state with Rivers State and wondered why Rivers State has gone far above Akwa Ibom State, which receives almost the same amount of allocation.

“The PDP Government for the past seven and a half years has received about N3 trillion. What have they done with it? Governor Wike of Rivers state has built several roads, many fly over bridges, houses for judges, Law School, School of Science and Technology and many other life-touching projects. In seven and a half years, our governor has struggled to build one flyover”.

Apostle Nyeneime Andy, chairman of the YPP in Akwa Ibom State, said the next government of Akwa Ibom State on the platform of YPP, will make life better for the people.

He however said that will only be possible with the support and massive votes for YPP, from the masses.

Pastor Sunny Ibuot, the Director – General of Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Council, who thanked the people for waiting for the campaign train, assured that their support will not be vain.

He promised a better governance from YPP, which will redeem the state from the lies currently being peddled by the present government.

Earlier, at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Esit Eket, HRM Edidem Ubong Peter Assam, OBA received royal blessings, after he assured the  monarch of his commitment and sincerity to change things for the better as governor.

Highlights of the campaign included official commissioning of the Ward 10 office of the YPP in Esit Eket by state chairman, Apostle Nyeneime Andy.
