The Director General, Divine Mandate Campaign Organisation of Governor Udom Emmanuel, the peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the just concluded gubernatorial election of Akwa Ibom State, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga has lauded Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its proven intergrity in conducts of elections in the State.
The DG commended at Mbiaso Ward 4, unit 003, Ikot Nyah, Nsit Ibom L.G.A, when our editorial team on election observation visited the unit last Saturday, during Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
The unit which has over 800 registered voters witnessed an impressive turned-out during the exercise and electorates were enthusiastically and orderly queuing up to exercise their franchise.
“Everything is going on well. It has been very peaceful. INEC has done a good job and I have been here from the beginning. I have already voted and I believe once this orderliness is maintained there shouldn’t be any problem.
“I have already told the people to ensure peace and decorum is maintained while voting for their preferred candidates, for we do know the minds of the people have already been made, it is not here that they want to come and take a renewed position.” Said the DG.
He remained confident that the people will in one accord make the right choice of voting PDP into power for sustainable development across the State.
According to him; “We are convinced that the will of God shall prevail at the end of this exercise and PDP shall come out victorious both in the Governorship and State House of Assembly positions, respectively”.
He further commended INEC for its doggedness and commitment to improve on modalities that have in no less measure fast tracked the easy voting process as witnessed at the unit, asides from intermittent breakdown of the Card Reader Machine that may trigger intolerance on the part of the electorates.
“As declared by the INEC officials here, everything is okay and intact, the materials are complete, although the card reader is rather slow, and that may induce impatience and rowdiness if not properly checked”.
