Ahead of 2023 gubernatorial election; ‘As Governor, I Will Remain A Vessel In The Hands Of God’, OBA Declares At Thanksgiving And Dedication Service.
The Distinguished Senator made this promise during the thanksgiving and dedication of the campaign services of the YPP at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Ikot Ambang, Ibiono Ibom in Akwa Ibom State.
OBA who said he and other candidates of the party were in the church to make a covenant with God that they will never disappoint the trust of the people when elected into offices from next year, assured that his aspiration is to serve the people.
“My intention to be the Governor of Akwa Ibom State is to serve the people of Akwa Ibom State, not for my personal benefit or interest. As a Governor, I will remain a vessel in the hands of God”, he declared.
OBA told the congregation during the Thanksgiving and dedication Service that he had gone through a lot of challenges in his quest to serve the people of the state.
“I am a chairman of a Senate Committee in the National Assembly, and a two – term Senator, I haven’t been invited for any State event for the past several months. I don’t know what I have done wrong, but that is the will of God”, he noted.
He noted that their emergence as Governor, Deputy Governor, Senator, House Representatives members and House of Assembly will only be the will of God.
OBA said that his government will be the people’s government, assuring that every Akwa Ibom person will be carried along in his administration.
In his homily at the Thanksgiving and dedication service, Rev. Father Inemesit Udoh, said it is only God that makes leaders, adding that the role of the church is just to pray.
“If God wills, He will take you to your direction. If OBA becomes the Governor, what Obong Victor Attah did well; what Senator Godswill Akpabio did well; what Governor Udom Emmanuel did well, he would take to a greater hight”.
I have been told that you did the roofing of the school here. I also invite you to the roofing of Catholic Church Okopedi, Okobo. Onofiok Rowland has told me the great things you did for so many people”.
“Kufre Andy had kidney crisis and the family struggled to raise money to send him to India for medical attention. One of our relatives met Pastor (Mrs.) Angela Ashong, and she met your wife. OBA, you provided the money. Kufre Andy went for the medical attention in India and came back alive”, the cleric recalled.
“Anyone with good heart who wants to serve our state like you, may heaven support him”, Rev. Fr. Udoh prayed.
Highlights of the thanksgiving and dedication service included; prayers for peaceful elections in the nation in 2023 led by Rev. Charles Asuquo and prayers for all candidates of the YPP in the 2023 general elections.
