Akwa Ibom State Government in its bid to gradually unlock the economy of the State has approved the re-opening of hotels and other leisure centres in the State.
This is contained in a press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem.
“As we continue to gradually unlock our economy, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has approved the re-opening of hotels and leisure centres in Akwa Ibom State”.
Akwa Ibom State Government Relaxes Curfew
The release also said that Governor Udom Emmanuel has equally approved the relaxation of curfew to commence from 10pm to 6 am daily effect from Tuesday, August 4, 2020.
“His Excellency the Governor has also approved a review of the subsisting curfew to start from 10pm to 6am daily with effect from Tuesday , August 04, 2020”.
The Governor urged all Hotels and leisure centres to adhere strictly to the Akwa Ibom State Government (AKSG) , NigeriaAn Centre for Disease control (NCDC) and World Health Organisation’s (WHO) guidelines in the course of rendering services to their clients.
“All hotels and leisure centres in the state are urged to ensure strict compliance with the AKSG/NCDC/WHO COVID-19 guidelines and protocols that are applicable to the hospitality and allied services operations”.
Also, Governor Emmanuel further assured that relevant monitoring teams shall embark on routine inspections to ensure level of compliance with set rules, guidelines and protocols.
“Monitoring Teams, comprising COVID-19 Management Committee and Akwa Ibom State Hotels Management and Tourism Board will enforce strict compliance”.
