The Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency, (AKSEPWMA) Prince Ikim has reiterated the commitment of the Agency in keeping Akwa Ibom environment clean as a fundamental role in physical and mental health.
Prince Ikim restated this last Saturday at Itam Main Market, Itu Local Government during the May edition of Akwa Ibom State wide environmental sanitation exercise supervised by the Agency.
The AKSEPWMA Chairman pooh-poohed violation of human and vehicular movements restriction by traders at Itam Market, heavy duty drivers, and other catchment areas within the metropolis during last month Sanitation which usually spanned between 7:00
a.m to 10:00
He sounded a final note of warning to defaulters as the heavy axe of the Agency shall fall on further defaulters of sanitation orders in the State.
Prince Ikim said a dirty or uninviting environment does not just cause infections or repulsion, but also pulls apart ones emotional control and mental stability, while on the other hand, a clean environment facilitates a sound health, and helps build about a robust well-being.
The AKSEPWMA Boss went ahead to assert that when your environment is clean, neat and nice, it turns you into a perpetually happy person. All negative emotions are banished and your creativity kind of get a rebirth. This translates into solid well-being and invariably tells on your productivity.
Earlier on at Four Lanes traffic light by Oron road, the AKSEPWMA supervised the disilting of gutters by contractors and called on citizens and residents to collectively partner with Government in keeping the State clean.
“Sanitation is a collective responsibility of Government and the masses. Governor Udom Emmanuel is a great motivator and we are working assiduously to actualise his vision in the environmental sector”, Says the Chairman.
Chairman, AKSEPWMA reassured that despite the increasingly degenerating environmental hazards, in Akwa Ibom State, the Agency is conversant with the benefits of a clean environment, creating one becomes a must task that must be accomplished at all costs.
Also, the State Commissioner for Environment, Barr. Ekong Sampson and House Committee Chairman on Environmental, Rt. Hon. Asuquo Archibong, Member representing Urefong Oroko State Constituency and other stakeholders were in the team during last month’s sanitation exercise.
