Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has unanimously ratified and confirmed the appointment of nineteen (19) Commissioners and two (2) Special Advisers into the State Executive Council.
Those confirmed as Commissioners are: Hon. Prince Ukpong Akpabio, Rt. Hon. Uno Etim Uno, Hon. Raphael Bassey and Mr. Victor Bassey, Barr Ekong Sampson, Mr. Charles Udoh, Hon Orman Esin, Hon Iniobong Essien, Dr Dominic Ukpong, Dr. Gloria Edet, Hon Udo Ekpenyong.
Others are: Akan Okon, Arch. Ime Ekpo, Mr. Nse Essien, Barr Uwemedimo Nwoko, Sir Monday Uko, Mr. Nsikan Linus Nkan, Rt Hon Okpulupum Okpolupm Etteh and Akparawa Ephraim Inyang.
Also, Mrs Ekemini Umoh and Hon. Sunday Ibout were confirmed as Special Advisers.
Governor Udom Emmanuel had written to the House in line with section 192 (2) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria requesting clearance for appointment of the nominees by the State Legislature.
As expected, all twenty-one (21) nominees appeared on the floor of the House today Thursday and was screened by lawmakers in the committee of the whole.
Earlier on, presenting the report of House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights and Public Petitions to the House at Plenary on Thursday, the Chairman, , Mr Victor Ekwere, said the nominees were interviewed on a wide range of intellectual issues as well as their area of specialization, adding the credentials and relevant documents of the nominees were also screened.
He described the Commissioners and Special Advisers Nominees as disciples of completion agenda, capable of driving home the vision of the present administration.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey after his ruling, has mandated the clerk of the House, Mrs. Mandu Umoren to communicate unanimous resolution of the House to Governor Udom Emmanuel.
