AKHA authorizes AKSG to access N1.728 facility

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has passed a resolution authorising the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel to access the bank facility of 1.728billion to finance the Supply and installation of Monitoring Surveillance and Communication Equipments in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State.
The House passed the resolution last Plenary following the receipt of a message addressed to the Speaker and members of the House, seeking their authorization to enable the Governor obtain a bank facility of I.728b to finance the contract of Supply and installation of Safe City Monitoring Surveillance and Communication Equipment in Uyo from zenith Bank Plc.
Leading debate on the message, the House Leader, Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan urged his colleagues to approve the request, saying that the present government has taken issues of security very seriously in line with the provision of the Constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria. It is important for the House as custodians of the mandates of the people to rise in one voice and support anything that will benefit the people maximally.
“With our resolved from the beginning to unanimously stand up and support any course with overall interests of the State, looking at the first value of this request, it concerns the security of Uyo metropolis and Akwa Ibom State has become a destination of choice to all manners of people including Investors who come into Akwa Ibom on daily basis and one of the criterion for any serious minded investor to invest in city is being sure the place is safe and secured.
“Judging from this presentation, it is clear that the Safe City Machine shall provide all forms of surveillance to Uyo metropolis.
“The issue of criminals committing atrocity here and the police are unable to trace culprits and what time it took place will be curtailed. It is important that as a city, we rise in one voice and support the fact that the issue of safety in Akwa Ibom State is very important.
“With installation of safety cameras across Uyo, safety of lives and properties shall be safeguarded and again investors shall be sure that their businesses are safe and secured, our people too shall have freedom of movement irrespective of the time of the day”. The leader highlighted.
Other members who aligned with position of the House Leader were; Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko of Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset, Nsit Atai State Constituency and Hon. (Otuekong) Nse Essien of Onna State Constituency.
They unanimously called on other members of the House to support the good gesture of the Governor which seeks to protect lives and properties in the State at a minimal cost.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Onofiok Luke urged the clerk of the House, Mrs. Mandu Umoren to communicate the resolution of the House to Governor Udom Emmanuel.
