The 25 kilometer Uyo Ikot Ekpene Road construction project inherited from the previous administration is less than 600 metres to Four Point by Sheraton Hotel in Ikot Ekpene which is the end of the 25km.
The Commissioner for Works Akwa Ibom State Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen undertook an inspection tour and demolition of structures on the right of way on Wednesday 24 April 2019 with a team from the Ministry of Works.
The 25 kilometer Uyo Ikot Ekpene Road construction project handle by construction giant Julius Berger has had over 24km of it dualised and work still ongoing to get the remaining portion completed.
Delighted youth of the community who came out to witness the Works Commissioner physically present to supervise the demolition exercise showered praise on the State government and pledged cooperating with the contractor for timely delivery of the project within specified time frame.
They said they were told that the current administration led by Mr Udom Emmanuel will abandon the road. They sang joyfully and prayed that God to continually bless this administration.
On his part, the Contractor of 25 kilometer Uyo Ikot Ekpene Road construction project assured the Works Commissioner that they would intensify work on the project to enable the government take delivery of the road on time.
Mr Inyang-Eyen along with his team moved to Oruk Anam Local Government Area to inspect on going construction at the 23.25km Ikot Ekaide-Ikot Okoro-Ikot Ibritam Road with 2no Bridges.
The Works Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the extent of work done. He assured the community that the current contractor will do better than the previous who did not make significant progress on the job.
The team drove through the road leading to the proposed Ceramic Factory to ascertain its state to know the next line of action.
